Grandstanding at the forum

Fort Wayne is surpassing other Indiana communities with its emphasis on alternate media; blogging in particular.

Wrote Kevin Lininger in the News-Sentinel...

Advertised as an examination of “New Media, New Rules,” a forum at the
downtown library this week instead reinforced the value of the old rules and
the supposedly obsolete communications industries still playing by
them.

The event was soiled when Dan Turkette stormed out of Nathan Gotsch's session. Turkette, who aligns himself with the GOP, frequently uses his blog to bash whomever he happens to find annoying. Therein lies the hypocrisy.

Turkette, it appears, can spew his non-stop nonsense, but when the heat is turned his direction, the Ft. Wayne blogger turns and run. Tragically, Turkette's childish actions overshadowed the meatier purpose of the event: To enhance Ft. Wayne's blogosphere. Turkette was supposed to be a panelist later in the program.

To his credit, Gotsch did what he does best: educate and engage bloggers in the power of personal media. And Turkette did what he does best: make a pompous ass of himself.
